A special little girl
World Vision recently called to thank me for a donation I sent for the Tsunami victims and also ask if I'd be interested in sponsoring a child from a third world country. Since I had been thinking about sponsoring a child for some time now, I jumped at the chance. I was given the option of choosing the gender and country of the child, so I decided on a little girl from Africa.
Last week an information package arrived with a picture and a few details about my new little friend; her name is Hameimida, she's eight years old and lives in one of the poorest places in the world, Kankossa, Mauritania, which is on the NW coast of Africa, below Morocco. To my delight, Hameimida's favourite subject is reading!
Canadian musician, Tom Cochrane wrote an interesting article about visiting Mauritania, a place most of us know little, if anything, about. [article]
