Poetry book nominated for award

Our poetry book, The Creature I Am, by the late Denise Cammiade, was nominated for a 2004 Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize, one of the prestigious BC Book Awards. The gala award ceremony was held at Government House in Victoria, BC and attended by The Honourable Iona Campagnolo. Susan Musgrave was an excellent host of the event.

Quin and Katherine Gordon, and Nikki Tate attended the dinner ceremony with me. Unfortunately, Jim had to opt out of the trip at the last minute as he had a tight deadline to get Katherine's book off to the printers. We missed him but had a great time nevertheless!

It was a whirlwind three days in Victoria. Not only did I spend time with family and friends, I also met with some of our wonderful authors. I had dinner with Penny (The Olden Days Locket) and Adrian Chamberlain at Il Terrazo Restaurant --too bad Jim missed such an excellent dinner. Penny has almost finished her next historical fiction novel for juveniles which is set on Vancouver Island. All of Penny's fans are greatly anticipating her next book.
