Bear alert!

Early Saturday morning I woke up when Jim quietly said, "Come here, quick!" I looked out the window and saw two bears in our yard, one black and the other brown. Both were pretty scrawny and thin, and not fully grown. A bit later, Gus and the cats had a good sniff all around the porch and Lily, who knows what a bear smells like, decided she'd rather stay inside for the day, something that is very unusal for her. Later that morning Jim saw the black bear on our driveway; fortunately Jim was in his truck so he leaned on the horn to scare it away. He had seen the brown bear a few days earlier at the same spot on our driveway when he was walking Gus - thank goodness it took off in the opposite direction. Needless to say, I'm not too keen to go walking around our property at the moment.
