Slocan Valley book successfully launched

Our Slocan Valley history book was launched on Sunday at Arica Gardens, here in Winlaw, BC. Situated on a scenic and tranquil property, it was the perfect setting for our celebration. With Jacob Trezevant playing an assortment of his flutes softly in the background, more than 100 people gathered to celebrate Katherine Gordon and her new book; it was our most successful book launch on record!
It was a sweltering hot day (32C+) and we were all run off our feet: Katherine's husband, Quin, kept the punch glasses and food table stocked, and Katherine spoke with guests and autographed dozens of her books. She gave an impromptu talk and reading which touched Mabel Lawrenow Kabatoff when Katherine spoke about interviewing her father, Bill Lawrenow, who migrated to the Slocan Valley from Saskatchewan in 1912 with his Doukhobor family.
It was a wonderful event, and Katherine and I are very grateful to Jane Leander for letting us use her lovely home for the launch, Georama Growers for the gorgeous bouquet of flowers, Kicking Horse Coffee for the generous donation of their coffee, and Fomi's Bakery for the delicious food that everyone raved about.
