Chaos in Paradise

Yesterday Jim was driving home from town and was almost at our driveway when a truck coming down our hill slid 90 degrees across the road in front of him. Jim had to stop and then lost traction, sliding backwards into a ditch: the road was a sheet of ice. Another truck coming down the hill pulled over to avoid hitting them, then another truck coming up the hill managed to pass all the vehicles but then lost traction and slid backwards, narrowly missing the pulled-over truck by a hair. Jim walked home to call the company that maintains our roads but they'd had a truck go off a road so were unable to get a truck there to sand our road. Everyone had to leave their trucks scattered across the road until help arrived the next morning. Jim strung orange tape across the road at both ends of the hill to stop anyone from unknowingly driving into the chaos. One of our neighbours parked her car at the bottom of the hill, and while walking up the road said it was so dark that she walked right into the back of Jim's truck.
